Title I Funding

The largest source of federal funding to schools is from Title I, providing over $18 billion to schools that serve a high number or high percentage of children from low-income families to ensure that these children are able to meet challenging state academic standards.

How Bark aligns with Title I, Part A

• Bark supports Title I schools and surrounding communities for the basic purpose for which Title I was created—to give all children, regardless of family income, the opportunity and support to achieve or exceed proficiency on challenging state academic standards.
• By providing students with a Bark Phone and its built-in monitoring solution, schools and parents are able to support student academic achievement by effectively reducing distractions to learning via the app management features that Bark provides.
• Students with access to a Bark Phone are able to remain connected outside of traditional school hours, allowing them to reach out to teachers and peers or additional, approved online resources when support or guidance is needed on schoolwork. 
• A Bark Phone encourages and supports family engagement, a requirement of Title I funding. With a Bark Phone, parents and guardians can monitor content, manage screen time, and block websites and apps to reduce distractions to learning and promote academic achievement.  
• By enabling schools to monitor and ensure safety in online activity, Bark for Schools facilitates the teaching of digital citizenship. Thoughtful and respectful engagement with technology promotes student academic achievement 
• Bark’s parent portal encourages and supports family engagement, a requirement of Title I funding. Parents and guardians can get alerts via text and email to ensure their children are protected online after school, on weekends, and over breaks. 
• Schools that become Bark Community Partners are provided resources to help educate families about online safety. Through online courses, digital safety resources, and live parenting workshops, Bark provides parents the tools they need to help keep their children safe online.
