Is Amazon Music Safe? An Amazon Music Review for Parents

Almost any artist can be found on Amazon Music, so your child may encounter songs with explicit language and lyrics about sex, drugs, violence, and other adult themes. Toggling off explicit music in the settings can help filter out this content, but it will not remove songs with adult themes.

In addition to explicit songs, Amazon Music also shares podcasts that may have inappropriate content. Some podcasts simply discuss adult themes, while others are devoted entirely to subjects like audio pornography that consists of sexual noises and sounds.

Amazon Music doesn’t give listeners the ability to message one another, so there is a low risk of predation. It’s also not necessary to include any personally identifiable information and accounts are automatically private unless the user changes this in settings.

Privacy 🔒

Amazon Music lets users stay completely anonymous, meaning your kid doesn’t have to add their real name or a profile photo. Their account is automatically private, so no one can follow them and see their activity, and a public account can easily be made private again.

Parental Controls ✅

Amazon offers parents a parent dashboard where they can set time limits for their child, see their child’s screen-time, and toggle off explicit content for Amazon Music (this feature is also available in the app settings).
