Roblox Rolling Out Stricter Parental Controls for Kid Accounts
Roblox recently sent an email to parents outlining some of the sweeping changes they’ll be making to their platform soon in the wake of allegations about all of the various dangers kids face on it. Here’s the TL;DR:
- Instead of setting parental controls on their child’s account/device with a PIN, parents will be able to link a Roblox account with parent privileges to their child's account. This will let them access and change settings and to monitor activity on Roblox, including daily screen time and friends on the platform.
- Parents must grant permission for kids under 13 to access some chat features, and for kids under 9 to play games with moderate violence or crude humor.
- Account info will no longer be emailed: parents will have to access via the app.
An exact date wasn’t released for these new parental controls, though it’s anticipated it’ll be in November 2024.
