Bark’s 2024 End-of-Year Review
2024 marked our 9th year as a company here at Bark, and we had tons to celebrate! From launching new products to a sun-filled trip out west for Bark Week in Scottsdale, Arizona, we had an amazing year once again helping to keep kids safe online and in real life.
1: New product launch with the Bark Watch
Just in time for the holidays, we were proud to launch the brand-new Bark Watch, the latest tech gadget with Bark’s award-winning monitoring built in. Our engineering team worked incredibly hard to make the Bark Watch, and it’s set to be a game-changer for families looking to give their kid a mobile device that’s safer with no games, social media, or web browsers.
57: Times we said “Very demure, very mindful” — both joking and serious — in Slack
Fun fact: Dictionary.com named “demure” its word of the year for 2024, thanks to the viral TikTok from Jools Lebron that exploded into social media consciousness back in August. Members of the Bark team could be found using it in shout-outs, comments, and even over Zoom occasionally.
431: Saguaro cactus photos taken during Bark Week
For the first time ever, Bark Week took place in location outside of Atlanta — we all traveled out west to sunny Scottsdale, Arizona for a week of team building, in–person meetings, and fun. From early morning desert hikes to a pair of intrepid Barkers who took to the skies in a hot air balloon, Bark Week out west was an amazing and productive time for our team!
582,382: Members of Parenting in a Tech World
There was once a time when our Facebook group for digital parenting was just a few thousand people asking questions and giving advice. Today, more than half a million parents gather every single day to keep providing emotional support, sharing real-life experiences, and sometimes even just blowing off some much-needed steam with memes and stories.
Too many to count: Family dinners saved by Bark’s pause internet button
Sometimes, kids (and parents!) just need a breather. With a simple tap of a button, parents this year could make sure everyone was seated and present at the dinner table instead of scrolling TikTok or playing Roblox.
758: Times we had to explain what skibidi means to parents
A lot of parents know how popular the word “skibidi” is, but many don’t know about its origins as an absurd animated YouTube video from a few years back. It’s basically just a nonsense word spouted by a cartoon head in a toilet (we know, we know). Somehow, skibidi transcended that video and has become a go-to word for Gen Alpha that somehow means nothing and everything all at once. And while we may not ever quite understand it, every generation has their nonsense phrases — from supercalifragilisticexpialidocious to peanut butter jelly time.
2,074: Press hits in media (TV, print, digital, radio) across the world
Bark is extraordinarily lucky to be constantly featured in national and international news outlets — both for our kid-friendly suite of tech products and for our thought leadership in the digital parenting space. From Good Housekeeping and Parents.com to even the New York Times, we’re always at the forefront of conversations about keeping kids safer in today’s tech-driven world.
38,973: New Instagram followers
Our Instagram community grew by almost 40,000 people this year, bringing us to a total of more than 136,000 followers! We’re thrilled to be providing parents, caregivers, and even just the digital-parenting-curious with resources, inspiration, and even a few laughs every now and then.
Here’s to 2025…
We’ve got some ambitious goals and a few surprises waiting around the corner in the new year, and we can’t wait to share them with you! Until then, be sure to check out our products page, our blog, and our family-friendly content reviews.
