Help support Sammy’s Law
Right now in Congress, there is incredible momentum building for a bill called Sammy’s Law that would transform how parents help protect their kids online — and you can help!
We need your assistance with signing the petition and contacting your elected representatives to voice your support for this proposed bill.
What would Sammy’s Law do?
As you may know, companies like Snapchat and TikTok refuse to work with parental control apps like Bark. In doing so, they’re depriving parents of the ability to monitor their kid’s messages, leading to missed alerts that could be life-threatening.
Sammy’s Law would change this, requiring social media companies to work with online safety apps. This will benefit families not only today but future generations, as well.

Hi, I live in your district, and I wanted to express my support for Sammy’s Law, HR 5778. It was recently discussed in a subcommittee hearing and is now moving to bill markup. I respectfully request that you help Sammy’s Law be included on the markup agenda for May 23, 2024.
This bill would require social media companies to open their APIs to safety software providers. Sammy’s Law, if passed, will enable families to use third-party safety apps that alert them to dangers in their children’s social media activity.
On behalf of my family as well as families across the nation, I’m asking you to support Sammy’s Law – a crucial bill that will help keep kids safe online and in real life.
Children are the most vulnerable members of our society when it comes to technology, and the dangers facing them on social media include suicidal ideation, online predation, cyberbullying, and drugs/alcohol. Sammy’s Law will empower families to play a more active role in their child’s online safety, and that’s something every kid deserves.
As this proposed legislation ramps up, please support it however you can.
Thank you for your time, and for your support of Sammy’s Law to keep our kids safer.
About Sammy
Sammy was an amazing kid — sweet, funny, curious, and an A student. Sammy’s parents worked hard to keep him away from dangerous people and places. But, like most parents, Sammy’s parents had no idea that drug dealers were preying on children using Snapchat and other social media platforms. And they had no idea illegal, untested drugs could be delivered to their house as easily as a pizza.
On February 7, 2021, a drug dealer reached out to Sammy on Snapchat and delivered drugs to him at home. He snuck out after his parents were asleep to meet the dealer, who gave him what turned out to be a lethal dose of fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid twice as addictive as heroin, 100 times more powerful than morphine — and fatal even in microscopic doses. Sammy had no idea he was taking it. As a result, Sammy lost his life.
